Anne, Library Assistant
Anne's love for public libraries started at a very young age, where her home in Brooklyn was one block away from the library. She still remembers the the awesome entryway and how the Children's Room was situated up the great marble stairs and to the right, with round tables displaying rectangular "SILENCE" signs. She says that "you could hear a pin drop."
"This set the stage for me. I have spent approximately 30 years in public service and believe in the power of the local library to serve the community and introduce children to the love of reading. I have been a lifelong reader and enjoy working with people who share that love of information and learning."

"I have a natural curiosity that is satisfied by retrieving information. I enjoy reading for pleasure and I find it very gratifying to help others do the same. I truly enjoy working at the Maywood Library."
Mary Gilligan, Library Assistant (Right)
Mary assists patrons with their book choices and other library matters. She helps in the Children's Room and has witness the growth of many young children in to young adulthood. It is nostalgic for Mary to think of an integral part the library played in forming lifelong reading habits for her own four children.
"Being a longtime Maywoodian adds to the pleasure of serving my community. It's exciting being part of the experience as our library moves forward technically and diversely."

"Maywood Library is a big part of my life. I consider all the staff my family. I have experienced many changes in my career through my time at the library. My first love is my family and pets--and the library is second, though this library does belong to everyone, it is "our library." I hope to remain here and see all come and visit soon.
Mary, Library Assistant (Left)
Mary has worked in Technical Services for the past 31 years. She arranges for all of the library's materials to be placed on the BCCLS cataloging system and occasionally helps out at the circulation desk. She values the many friends she has made over the years with fellow staff and patrons.
"The Maywood Library is a wonderful place for the people in the community to visit. They can read the daily newspapers, check out the latest books and Dvds and other media--and all for free. It's enjoyable knowing I'm involved in a system to spread knowledge as well as enjoyment. I hope the Maywood Library continues to be able to serve the people of Maywood in the coming years."
Kathy graduated with a Master's Degree in Library Science from the University of Texas and has spent her entire career working as a Reference & Inter-Library Loan Librarian.
In the 20 years that she has been at the Maywood Library, she has seen the Reference Department change dramatically. With the coming of the Internet and more information being made available online, the physical Reference collection has been reduced from consuming entire areas to just a few shelves.
"What hasn't changed is my job. It is up to me to help you find what you are looking for, whether it be a printed book or information on a website. If you can't find it, just ask. I also specialize in borrowing materials from libraries located outside the BCCLS area."
Hello, I'm Durga. Before working at the Maywood Public Library, I volunteered at the Lodi Memorial Public Library. I think, libraries open the world of books. Books have a power to soar on one's imagination or books can make a person learn something new. Libraries serve a variety of interests of people from toddlers to the wise. I take pleasure to give service and to be part of Maywood Public Library’s community.
Caitlin graduated from Hackensack High School, and then the College of New Jersey with a B.A. in English. After several years working as a paralegal, she decided to pursue a Master's Degree in Library and Information Sciences at Rutgers University. While attending classes, she also worked at Johnson Public Library in Hackensack, where she acted as a page, circulation assistant and finally as an assistant on the reference desk. Upon completion of her degree, she accepted a position at Cresskill Public Library as the adult services librarian, where she managed programming, reference, and the development of fiction and media collections for the library. Caitlin looks forward to serving the Maywood community, and bringing great programs and new books, resources and technologies to the library.

Patrice, Youth Services Assistant
I have always loved the library from a young age. Coming from an art background, I especially enjoy doing story time and crafts with the kids! I think books are really important to the development of everyone’s imagination. The library is such an important resource for our community and I enjoy helping others to use those resources every day.
